SACON Walk-In Interview April 2019 For Junior Research Biologist and Other Posts

Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History, SACON has invited application from Indian Nationals candidate for the walk in interview of Junior Research Biologist and other posts. Details of the recruitment are given below :

Duration :
1. For project (A)
One year; the selected candidate will be initially engaged for one year and his/her tenure may be 1 extended for a further period on the basis of his/her performance or requirement of the project;
2. For project (B)
One year; the selected candidate will be initially engaged for one year and his/her tenure may be extended for a further period on the basis of his/her performance or requirement of the project;
3. For project (C)
One year; the selected candidate will be initially engaged for one year and his/her tenure may be extended for a further period based on the requirement of the project;
4. For project (D)
Three years; the selected candidate will be initially engaged for one year and his/her tenure may be extended for further periods on the basis of his/her performance or requirement of the project;
5. For project (E)
One year from the date of engagement initially and may be extended for further periods based on the requirement of the project

3. For project (C) “Assessing the distribution, population and habitat use of three endangered species to develop a conservation plan for species and their habitats”
Junior Research Biologist : 2 posts
4. For project (D) “Assessing anthropogenic threats to large carnivore population in the Western Ghats part of Tamil Nadu, southern India”
Project Fellow : 1 post
5. For project (E) “Establishment of National Avian Forensic Laboratory at SACON for National Certification for Illegal Trafficking of Birds”
Junior Research Biologist-Bioinformatics : 1 post

Age Limit : Below 28 years

Education Qualification :
1. For project (A)
Junior Research Biologist :
Masters’ Degree in Zoology / Wildlife Biology/Wildlife Science/Ecology / Forestry/Environmental Science/ Environmental Management/ Life Sciences from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or above;
Desirable :
i) Knowledge of Wildlife Biology/Conservation Science and
ii) Proficiency in spoken Malayalam/Tamil;

2. For project (B)
Junior Research Biologist :
Masters’ Degree in Zoology/ Forestry/Wildlife Sciences/ Wildlife Biology/Ecology/ Environmental Science/ Biodiversity & Conservation /Environmental Sciences/ Environmental Management/ Life Sciences from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or above;
Desirable :
Knowledge/work experience on faunal studies especially mammals, camera trapping techniques, using GIS & RS spatial tools & programs and willingness to work in Meghalaya;

3. For project (C)
Junior Research Biologist :
Masters’ Degree in Zoology/ Wildlife Biology/Life Sciences/Ecology/Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or above.
Desirable :
Research experience in wildlife studies;

4. For project (D)
Project Fellow :
Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/Wildlife Biology/Ecology/Zoology/Life Sciences/Environmental Science/ Biodiversity and Conservation related subjects from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or above;
Desirable :
i) One year experience after PG Degree in field ecological studies that include habitat ecology/human-wildlife interactions/carnivore ecology,
ii) familiarity with GIS tools and analytical techniques in writing scientific publications,
iii) should be able to carry out rigorous field work independently and
iv) Proficiency in English;

5. For project (E)
Junior Research Biologist-Bioinformatics :
MSc/ BE/ BTech / MTech in Bioinformatics/ Computer Science/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Genetics/ Life Sciences with a minimum of 55% or more;
Desirable :
Must have working experience with Next Generation Sequencing datasets and well versed with Linux /bash and routine command line tools for large scale data processing. Must have working knowledge of Perl, Python and/or R;

Salary :
1. For project (A)
Junior Research Biologist : Rs. 25,000 per month plus HRA
2. For project (B)
Junior Research Biologist : Rs. 25,000 per month plus HRA
3. For project (C)
Junior Research Biologist : Rs. 25,000 per month plus HRA
4. For project (D)
Project Fellow : Rs. 29,000/- consolidated per month (inclusive of HRA)
5. For project (E)
Junior Research Biologist-Bioinformatics : Rs. 25,000/per month plus HRA as applicable

Mode of selection : Selection will be based on the walk-in interview

How to apply :
Eligible candidate having the requisite qualification need to appear for walk in Interview along with Duly filled-in applications along with self-attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, date of birth, extracurricular activities etc. should be submitted at the interview venue.
All original documents in support of qualifications, age etc should be produced at the time of interview for verification.
