RIMS Imphal Admission to Various PG Courses for Session 2021-22 (Post Graduate MD/MS/Diploma Admission for the Academic Session 2021)

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has informed to the intending RIMS and Non-RIMS medical graduates (from N.E region except Assam) who are interested to undergo Postgraduate Courses in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, that the allocation of seats for MD/MS/Diploma Courses for the academic year 2021 and procedures of selection of candidates shall be as follows:

Duration of Courses: Post Graduate MD/MS/Diploma 

Total Seat: 148 Seats

MD/MSThe courses will be of 3 (three) years from the date of admission and 2
years for those with recognized two years P.G. Diploma holders in the same
subject.
DiplomaThe course will be of 2 (two) years from the date of admission.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must be an Indian national holding MBBS degree or equivalent from a Medical College/ Institute recognized approved by Medical Council of India and has obtained permanent registration from NMC or any State Medical Council. In the nomination letter, any directive/option of subject preference mentioned against the names of candidates will not be entertained as the allotment of seats will be strictly done in order of merit of the
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG-2021).

Distribution of 148 PG seats in RIMS, Imphal:

A) All India Quota (AIQ) : 74 seats (50%)
B) In-Service Sponsored Category (Beneficiary States of RIMS) – 53 seats
(Arunachal Pradesh -8, Manipur -8, Meghalaya – 8, Mizoram -7, Nagaland -7, Sikkim -7 & Tripura -8).
C) Open Category: 21 seats
i) RIMS Graduate (Arunachal Pradesh -02, Manipur – 02, Meghalaya – 02, Mizoram – 02, Nagaland – 02, Sikkim – 02, Tripura-02) ..
ii) RIMS AIQ Graduates – 02
iii) Non-RIMS NE Graduates – 05 (from Beneficiary States of RIMS)

Categories of Postgraduate Seats:
There are two categories of Post-Graduate seats available in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal;
A) In-service Sponsored Category (Beneficiary States of RIMS) and
B) Open category –
(i) RIMS Graduates
(ii) RIMS-AIQ Graduates and
(iii) Non-RIMS NE Graduates.

• Selection of candidates for admission to post-graduate medical courses against in-service sponsored category seats shall be applicable to the in-service (regular basis) medical graduates belonging to the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

• Selection of RIMS Graduate (4b-i) seats will be made from bonaflde/ permanent residents of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura who have completed their medical graduation from Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal.

• Selection of RIMS-AIQ Graduate (4b-ii) of seats will be made from amongst the medical graduate of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal who were admitted through All India Quota (AIQ).

• Selection of Non-RIMS NE Graduate (4b-iii) of seats will be made from bonaflde/ permanent residents of North Eastern Region of India except Assam who have completed their medical graduation from any NMC recognized medical institution except RIMS, Imphal.

In-service Sponsored Category
• Ordinarily, candidates working in the State Health Services (Health Cadre) on regular basis only will be considered.

• Ordinarily, candidates who are appointed on temporary/contract basis or ad-hoc
appointments are not considered under the ‘In-Service Sponsored Category’.

• Any other matter related to the above given clauses 4aI and 4a2 will be discussed by a Committee specifically formed for the purpose and recommendations will be sent up to the RIMS Authority for the final decision.

• Admission for the sponsored candidates will be cancelled at any time if they have been admitted in the postgraduate course by submitting false information or document.

Open Category

  • RIMS Graduates (Beneficiary States)

Candidate must be an Indian national holding MBBS degree from Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal and must have obtained permanent registration from NMC or any State Medical Council. A candidate who is completing 12 months compulsory rotatory internship on or before June 30, 2021 and submits a relevant certificate from
the concerned Head of the Institute, can appear in the Counseling for admission to MD/ MS/ Diploma Courses.

  • RIMS-AIQ Graduates

Candidate must be an Indian national admitted in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal under All India Quota (AIQ) holding MBBS degree. Any candidate, who is completing 12 months compulsory rotatory internship on or before June 30, 2021 and submits a relevant certificate from the concerned Head of the Institute, can appear in the counseling for admission to MD/MS/Diploma Courses.

  • Non-RIMS NE-Graduates

Candidate must be an Indian national from North-Eastern Region of India except Assam holding MBBS degree from any MNC recognized Medical Institution except RIMS, Imphal and has obtained permanent registration from NMC or any State Medical Council. Any candidate, who is completing 12 months compulsory rotatory internship on or before June 30, 2021 and submits a relevant certificate from the concerned Head of the Institute, can appear in the counseling for admission to MD /MS /Diploma Courses.

The permanent medical registration certificate should be submitted within two months of admission, failing which the admission will be cancelled.

Who are not eligible?
• A candidate can apply either in In-service or Open category. Candidates who applies in both In-service Sponsored and Open categories for the same academic session shall not be eligible for counseling.

• Candidates, who have already obtained an MD/MS Degree from Manipur University
or any other University in India.

Submission of application
a) A candidate seeking counseling for admission is required to submit his/her application in the prescribed form only.
b) The candidate should fill in the application form in his/her own handwriting, clearly and legibly. Application form should reach the Office of the Director, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Lamphelpat, ImphaI-795004 Manipur on the date that will be announced later.
c) Application form can be downloaded from the Institute’s website. The candidates are required to pay the requisite counseling fees by online transfer to the following Bank Account and the proof of payment should be submitted by mentioning the transaction details. Candidates should also write their names in the ‘remark” space while making the transfer.

Counselling Fee : Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees two thousand only)

Selection Process

It will be strictly based on the marks obtained in the NEET-PG-2021 Examination and selection will be purely on merit basis.

Vacant seats of In-service sponsored and Open categories after counseling will be allotted to the waitlisted eligible candidates after making a common pool of merit list separately for In-service sponsored and Open categories respectively based on the merit of the NEET-PG- 2021 examination in subsequent counseling. Reverted AIQ quota seats shall be allotted to only RIMS graduates. Cross-over of In-service sponsored and Open categories or vice-
versa is not allowed.
