Central Agricultural University CAU Farmer’s Science Congress 2019
The Central Agricultural University (Imphal) will organise the Farmers’ Science Congress 2019 with the financial support of ICAR-ATARI VI & VII at College of Horticulture & Forestry, CAU, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh as a part of the
CAU Regional Agri Fair 2019-20.
Theme: Ecosystem Approach for Sustainable Agriculture
The main objective of the Farmers’ Science Congress is to ensure that local-level innovations would be made known to larger community of farmers and benefit in a big way. The CAU was taken the initiative to organise the FSC forthe first time in NEH Region during 2018-19 with the aim of showcasing these inventions before the agricultural scientists’ community as well as encouraging innovation and more field-based experiments. The Farmers’ Science Congress is being conceived as a forum for farmers to present their original inventions and practices.

1. Presentation of innovative technologies/findings before experts, agricultural scientists and farmers;
2. to identify the innovative expertise farmers of northeaster region;
3. to identify the location specific technologies for validation and refinement;
4. to chalk out way forward for further improvement.
Farmers inventions on:
1. sustainable crop production
2. crop improvement
3. diversity of rare breed management
4. natural resource management
5. pest & disease management in crops, domestic animals & fishes
6. animal husbandry
7. fish husbandry
8. farm mechanization
9. food processing & value addition
10. post-harvest storage practices
The innovative farmers can participate in
a) Oral Presentation: Power Point Presentation (PPT) for 10-15 minute
followed by discussions. OR
b) Poster Presentation: Poster should be prepared in Star Flex of the size of
3ft X 5 ft. Presentation followed by discussions.
The presenter(s) have to present his/her innovation(s)/ technology/ methods etc. with live specimens as far as possible and literature etc. in front of the experts/ evaluators for award. Concerned recommending authorities/ mentor
should help in preparation of the PPTs and Posters etc. of the participating farmers/ innovators.
The expert committee will review the farmers’ inventions. They will submit the panel of farmers for awards. Further, the expert committee will prepare the report on the event with the brief description on the inventions made by the
farmers. This will be submitted to the respective State Government as well as to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. India for future actions deem fit for development of the sector towards the doubling of farmers income
How to apply
Those who wish to attend the congress may register their names by filling up of nomination form before November 01, 2019 through the line departments or KVKs or ATARIs or ICAR Centres of NEH Region in consultation with the constituent college(s) of CAU (I) and DEE, CAU, Imphal for the particular state. They should submit an extended summary or success story (as per the format enclosed) with photographs of the technologies/ innovations/ techniques developed and tested through field experiments to the Director of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University, Lamphelpat,
