Manipur University Recruitment 2016 for the Post of Assistant Professor

Manipur University,MU Canchipur Imphal has invited application from eligible candidates for the recruitment for the post of Assistant Professor. Details of the recruitment are as follows:

1. Assistant Professor: 03 Posts
a. History (Ancient Indian History): 01 Post (UR)
b. Political Science: 01 Post (UR)
c. Foreign Launguage (Japanese): 01 Post (UR)

Pay Scale:
Rs.15,600-39,100 + AGP of Rs. 6,000/-

Educational Qualification:
A. For the Post 1 & 2:
1. Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master's Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian Urtiyersity, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
2. Besides, fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
3. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses 1 & 2 above candidates, who are, or have been awarded a PhD degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.

Further, the award of degrees to candidates registered for the M.Phil/Ph.D programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/By laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and the Ph.D candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of "NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-
(a) Ph. D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only;
(b) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners;
(c) Candidate had published two research papers out of which at least one in a refereed journal from out of his/her Ph.D. work; (d) The candidate had presented two papers in seminars/conferences from out of his/her Ph.D. work;
(e) Open Ph.D. viva-voce of the candidate had been conducted. (a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the Vice-Chancellor/Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Dean (Academic Affairs)/Dean (University Instructions)"
4. NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
5. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master's level for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
6. A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the PhD Degree holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.

B. For ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (JAPANESE LANGUAGE):
i. Good academic record with at least 55% marks in the Master's degree in Japanese language/ English/ Linguistics
ii. NET in Japanese Language/ Linguistics/ English/ PhD Degree as per UGC Regulations amended from time to time.
iii. For candidates not holding PG degree in Japanese Language/ Studies a. A Two/ Three Year Diploma in Japanese Language. OR b. A certificate of proficiency in Japanese language (appropriate level) awarded by the Japan Foundation/ Japanese Embassy in India.

Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. degree) regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET.

How to Apply:
Application form and details of essential qualifications, experience, specialization, API/PBAS proforma etc. can be downloaded from the University website www.manipuruniv.ac.in (under academic/IQAC) or can be obtained from the University Cash Counter on payment of Rs. 100/- in cash.

The duly filled in application form and API/PBAS proforma alongwith self-attested copies /of certificates of educational qualifications, date of birth, experience, caste/tribe etc. and a fee of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/PWD) in the form of Bank Draft of SBI drawn in favour of the Registrar, Manipur University, Canchipur, payable at SBI, MU, Canchipur (Code No. 5320) or cash receipt of the University should be submitted in an envelope superscribed with the name of post applied for with Advt. No. and date to the Registrar, Manipur University, Canchipur, Imphal — 795003 on or before 20-08-2016

Those in service should apply through proper channel. Downloaded application forms should accompany a Demand Draft of Rs. 600/- (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST/PWD) at the time of submission. Note:-
Candidates who have already-applied for the post of Assistant Professor in History, Political Science and Japanese Language in response to Advertisement. No. 2/2013 dated 30/11/2013 may update their qualifications, experiences, if any or apply afresh on or before 20-08-2016.•
